You’re enthusiastic about your first ball(s) or festival. You love the atmosphere, the music, the people… Welcome! How wonderful that you’ve discovered balfolk. At the same time, you might feel that you’re still missing some points of reference. You may have taken an initiation before or picked things up on the dance floor, yet questions remain.

How do you best take hold of a partner? What kind of dance frame is considered the “norm” here? Which steps really matter in a bourrée, waltz, or mazurka? How many dances do you dance with the same partner, and can everyone dance with everyone?

How do the circles work, and where do you stand? And is it okay to say no, even to that friendly or attractive person? In this workshop, we’ll look for answers together. We won’t teach you all the dances, but we will give you the foundations you need to feel relaxed and welcome on the dance floor. So that you can enjoy yourself and so can the people around you. A workshop with attention to dance, music, and each other.
