Food

At BalhallaFestival, we make sure no one hits the dance floor hungry or thirsty.

A more detailed overview will be shared a few weeks before the festival, but here’s what we can already tell you: on Saturday and Sunday, you can enjoy a breakfast buffet for €15.

From midday onwards, there will be several food options, including food trucks, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices.

Facilities on the Festival Grounds

Massage2

BalhallaFestival is not only about dancing and music, but also about comfort, care, and connection. In and around the venue, we provide various facilities so you can fully focus on enjoying the festival.

🚿 Showers
Showers are available inside the venue and can be freely used both before and after dancing. Perfect to start a ball feeling fresh or to unwind after an intense night on the dance floor.

🚰 Water point
A free water refill station is available on the festival grounds where you can refill your drinking bottle. Stay well hydrated — especially during long dance sessions!

👕 Clothing swap
Give clothes a second life! During the festival, we organize a clothing swap, where you can exchange clothes with other festival participants. Sustainable, fun, and you might even go home with a new favorite outfit.

MASSAGE

👞 Shoe shop – Pivot
Good dance shoes make all the difference. Pivot will be present with a selection of dance shoes that you can browse and purchase on site.

🎻 Instrument cloakroom
Bringing your instrument? No worries — we provide an instrument cloakroom where you can safely store your instrument when you’re not playing.

💆 Massage tent
Need some relaxation between or after dancing? In the massage tent, you can have your muscles taken care of and recharge for the next ball.

Everything is designed to make BalhallaFestival as comfortable, caring, and complete as possible — for dancers, musicians, and volunteers alike.

Confidants at BalhallaFestival – A Safe & Welcoming Space for Everyone

A photo of the confidant poster that will be displayed at the festival.

At BalhallaFestival, we want everyone to feel safe, welcome, and supported—both on and off the dance floor. That’s why we have confidants available throughout the festival.

  • What is a confidant?
A confidant is someone you can turn to if something is bothering you, if you need help, or if you simply want to talk. They are here to ensure that everyone can experience the festival in a respectful and inclusive environment.

  • How can you recognize them?
Our confidants wear special armbands. Need someone to talk to? Feel free to approach them. Prefer to stay anonymous? Their contact details can be found on the Code of Conduct posters displayed around the festival site.

  • Let’s make BalhallaFestival a place where everyone feels at home.
Respect, kindness, and care for one another are at the heart of the balfolk community. Let’s dance, connect, and create an unforgettable festival together!

Balfolk Code of Conduct

A photo of the code of conduct poster created by Balfolkfabriek.

Balfolk is all about connection, joy, and respect, and that is exactly what we stand for at BalhallaFestival. That’s why we proudly share the Balfolk Guidelines, developed by BalfolkFabriek (NL) and beautifully designed by Maartje de Goede. This poster, which you’ll find around the festival site, summarizes the values we hold dear:

  • Everyone is welcome!
We strive to create a festival where everyone feels safe and respected. Discrimination or boundary-crossing behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Dance with whomever you want, however you want.
Everyone is free to lead, follow, or both, and you can always say ‘no’ to a dance—no explanation needed.

  • Be mindful of each other.
Pay attention to your dance partner, respect personal boundaries, and always check non-verbally if and where you can join a group dance.

  • Respect the music and the atmosphere.
Enjoy the live music, but if you want to talk, keep your voice lower than the music.

  • Personal boundaries matter.
Feel free to express what does and doesn’t feel comfortable, and don’t assume that someone wants to dance closely without consent.

  • Take care of yourself and others.
Stay hydrated, respect the space, and maintain personal hygiene to ensure a pleasant dance environment for everyone.

📸 Photography Policy at BalhallaFestival 📸

We want to capture the magic of BalhallaFestival while respecting your privacy. If you prefer not to appear prominently on our social media channels, you can sign up for our opt-out list.

How does it work?

Photo of the photography policy poster displayed around BalhallaFestival.

Send a clear and recent photo of yourself to foto@balhallafestival.be. Our photographers will make sure to remove any close-up images of you during the editing process. This applies only to photos and video recordings where you are clearly recognizable, not to general group or atmosphere shots.

🔹 Why this approach?
To capture spontaneous and authentic moments, our photographers cannot ask for permission before taking every photo. This allows them to do their work without interrupting the dancing experience.

🔹 Sign up at the entrance
You can also register at the entrance. In that case, we will take a quick identification photo of you, so our photographers can filter you out during the edit process.

🔹 What about visitors filming with their phone?
We encourage people to follow the same principles we do, if you take atmosphere shots don't worry. But if you take shots of people in focus, clearly recognisable, ask via foto@balhallafestival.be if you are allowed to use these photo's.
