Ensemble Workshop: European dance music by ear

Gert-Jan Clercx (Duo Clercx) takes you into the rich tradition of European dance music. Drawing on his experience as a musician, he works on ensemble playing, groove, and musical listening, using traditional dance music from various European regions as a starting point.

All tunes are learned by ear (no sheet music). The focus is on timing, phrasing, and danceability, with possible ornamentation and plenty of room for active ensemble playing and enjoyment.

This workshop is intended for musicians who can easily pick up melodies without sheet music and who enjoy making music in a group.

Being able to learn a melody by ear with ease is essential.
All instruments welcome; we will play in multiple keys.
