Threo

THREO is a Belgium-based, high-energy balfolk trio. Paul James plays soprano saxophone and bagpipes, Hilke Bauweraerts plays diatonic accordion, and Thomas Hoste plays electro-acoustic alto hurdy-gurdy. Together, they make traditional European dance music with a contemporary approach, shaped by grooves, dance beats, harmonies and improvisation. These elements define THREO’s musical language, bringing rhythmic energy, harmonic movement and spontaneous interplay into the same sound. The trio keeps its focus on traditional European dance music while presenting it through a high-energy balfolk format.
