Welcome to the website of Balhalla Festival, the brand-new winter balfolk festival in the old industrial heart of Ghent.
The very first edition of Balhalla Festival is behind us – and what a celebration it was!
For three days, we enjoyed:
a 400 m² dance floor with space for no less than 400 dancers
a cozy jam space for musicians
inspiring music and dance workshops
an open stage full of surprising talents
the best of the Belgian folk music scene, with some international top acts as the cherry on top
a festival that was fully wheelchair accessible
A huge thank you to everyone who was there – dancers, musicians, volunteers, and all enthusiastic festivalgoers. You brought Balhalla to life!
What’s next?
Balhalla is returning — from 27 February to 1 March 2026, we dance again!
Originally, we dreamed of one more edition in our beloved, cozy venue. But things took a turn: our trusted space is stepping away from hosting events, and so we leap forward.
We're moving to a new location in Ghent — with more space, new possibilities, and the same warm, magical spirit that made Balhalla so special.
We’re building toward a second edition that’s bigger, bolder, and just as heartfelt.
Not everything is ready to be revealed yet… but stay tuned.
